General comment

This root is apparently restricted to the northern languages, where *hkú•te kept its original meaning of ‘throw’. This is is nice additional confirmation of the diffusional nature of shooting in Siouan.

Generally Hidatsa VʔV = Crow VV with rising pitch in monosyllables.
