General comment

In addition to the citation form given above, Crow has áala (RG) and á•re (L-188) in discourse, indicating the existence of a final ablauting vowel. Hidatsa seems to have preserved only the form with final -a. The Biloxi etymology is a + sąhį ‘on one side, one of a pair’.
