General comment

There is contamination from *kres-marked > spotted, striped (1)’. Kanza/Kaw ttolíli ‘rainbow’ (JOD) and Osage †ðilíe, thigthí-é ‘sparkle’ (LF-146b) appear to illustrate the simplex form of this root. Cf. also Hidatsa karícka ‘glisten, sparkle, gleam’.
