General comment
Cf. ‘sing’. Catawba, Crow, and Hidatsa suggest *wų•, from which Mandan may have
dissimilated to *wą. Cf. ‘ask’. Cf. several DH terms in -mą
referring to ringing sounds. Biloxi appears to be derived from ‘sing’ via
contraction. Had Biloxi dissimilated *wų, one would expect dǫ rather
than yǫ.
