General comment

Cf. ‘wear pants, wear on legs’. These two terms, *o-thąwear pants, wear on legs’; *o-rhąwear on the feet’ are one of the few scraps of evidence for a Proto-Mississipi-Valley *th/*rh opposition. Both are suspect of being late compounds. Cf. Kanza/Kaw obáhą ‘wear (generally)’. The root, , may be ‘stand’, q.v.
